OTHER SALTY ADVENTURES
AbouT
By now you know that Belize draws scuba diving, snorkeling, and fishing enthusiasts from all over the world. If these are your only salt water interests, you’ll be fulfilled visiting here. However, there are other ways to explore and enjoy the natural beauty of the country’s coastlines, reefs, islands, and hotels.
Sail the Southern Cayes
Leaving out of Placencia for a 7-day excursion, take a Belize sailing trip itinerary into a world of natural wonders amid a series of marine preserves tucked behind the protective barrier reefs off the Belizean coast. The islands and Cayes are mostly uninhabited, fringed with swaying palms or lined with lush stands of mangroves.
White-sand beaches front secluded anchorages with kaleidoscopic colors of brown, orange, green, and blue over the reefs. Balmy trade winds blow steadily and sure, promising exquisite cruising as you explore the less traveled charter grounds behind Belize’s barrier reef system. It’s one of the best in the world for swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, windsurfing, kayaking, or just relaxing aboard while you admire the setting sun. You can visit such out of the way places as: Whipray Caye, South Water Caye, Thatch Caye, Lagoon Caye, Ray Cay, and Lark Caye.
Sail the Northern Cayes
These 4-day and 3-night sailing trips typically leave out of San Pedro. The destinations can include Caye Caulker, Turneffe Atoll, the Great Blue Hole, or even Placencia.
These adventures can include fishing, diving, snorkeling, swimming, or just lazily making your around the beaches and waters of the northern Cayes and Atolls.

The coral is gorgeous and the fish are abundant. The water is anywhere from about 5 to 10 feet deep and as clear as glass. This all-day cruise takes you through the mangroves where you will float along trying to spot a manatee. Once on the other side of the Caye, you make your way to the tiny Bacalar Visitors Center, a small museum. Take a quick peak inside as you wait for your BBQ lunch to be prepared. After lunch begin the slow cruise down the west side of the Caye before circulating back to the reef side docks. The Bacalar Chico Tour is gorgeous and allows you to see so much more of this amazing Caye.
