The Best Months for Caribbean Travel
Obligatory It's Always a Great Time to Travel to the Caribbean
You don't have to take our word for it, google average temperature in Belize, or any Caribbean country for that matter, and you'll think it's broken because it only displays three temperatures: Nice, Warm, and Hot.
But with a tropical paradise, there tend to be swell seasons and dead seasons. Depending on what you're looking for can drastically change the months you should travel. But the easiest answers are to define when not to travel to the Caribbean.
When You Shouldn't Travel to the Caribbean
It's not that you should not travel here under any circumstances, but you should be mindful of what to expect.
Spring Break
The narrow weeks that span Spring Break can prompt a higher percentage of people who are on spring break and want to tear things up. Now it's never an annoying issue since there is typically enough space for everyone, but like all Caribbean countries, there is a surge of college partyers.
Summer
It gets to be a bit hot in the summer if you live in the southern US. Here in the Caribbean, with the trade winds blowing, it's nice all summer long. It will likely be 15-30 degrees cooler here than in Phoenix or Houston or Dallas, or New Orleans.
Middle of Winter
Similar to Spring Break, this is when you will oft see many a snowbird flocking to the Caribbean. Maybe that's the ideal time for you if you are a snowbird looking for a new destination, welcome!
Cautionary Footnote: Autumn
Autumn has been when the tropical storms typically wreak havoc over the gulf. Now we don't usually see any hurricanes or tropical storms heading our way, but it can make enough of a splash to stir up the waters where we are or worse kick up some plane delays where you are.
When are the best months for Caribbean Travel
These are just my favorite two times of year to visit, yes there is some overlap with the list above, but these have notable additions.
November to August
This is the driest time of year in Belize, which means the weather is absolutely perfect. We don't experience a drought or anything like that (not that it matters because who drinks water on vacation!)
September and October
I would lean closer to September than October because these are the last two months of bonefishing season, and you can catch some really great tail down here. September is ideal because you're not dealing with the October panic that comes with trying to make it for fishing season, and you also get the right amount of wet season with your visit.
